I have had an annual Microsoft 365 subscription with Dell which is due to renew on January 9. I cancelled the auto renewal because I want to renew it directly with Microsoft. How can I do that as a smooth transition without any interruptions. Thank you.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. To add to the above, if you are to switch directly with your subscription to Microsoft, please ensure that you will use the same Microsoft account and then you may see the link below to choose which plan you prefer to subscribe to and proceed with the process and this should reflect on your account.

To transition smoothly from your annual Microsoft 365 subscription with Dell to a direct subscription with Microsoft, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure Auto-Renewal is Off: Since you've already canceled the auto-renewal, make sure it is confirmed that your subscription will not renew with Dell.
  2. Wait for the Subscription to Expire: Your current subscription will remain active until its expiration date on January 9. You can continue using the service until then.
  3. Purchase a New Subscription: After your current subscription expires, you can purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription directly from Microsoft. Make sure to select the same plan or a different one based on your needs.
  4. Reassign Licenses: If you have any users associated with your current subscription, you will need to reassign their licenses to the new subscription once it is active.
  5. Cancel the Old Subscription: Once the new subscription is active and all users are reassigned, you can safely cancel the old subscription to avoid any overlap.

By following these steps, you should be able to transition without any interruptions in service.
