Teams keeps crashing and reloading

Just starting this year, Teams has started repeatedly crashing and reloading. It only stays open for a few seconds, then tries reloading. I've had the same computer for over half a year with no issues. I don't know why this has started happening.

I see that this isn't an uncommon issue. I've tried the fixing steps listed reply to other questions. E.g. repairing, resetting, uninstalling and reinstalling, clear cache etc.

I can see in Task Manager that lots of sub-processes open up again and again. Maybe it's something related to this? I'm not sure what WebView User's image

Thank you,

Try now to reset all local settings of your desktop Teams application.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/microsoftteams/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache

Be sure to use the method applicable to the "New Teams" client.

Also, how is your computer connected to Internet? Is there any VPN application or Proxy on your network connection.

Several users reported recently issues with the latest Teams application when Astrill VPN was used.

Yes I do have Astrill installed, and the same version of Teams. It looks like I have the same issue.I have managed to fix it with the following work around listed:

    • When Teams crashes again, run Command Prompt as an administrator, then execute: netsh winsock reset

This was listed in the second link you gave.

I gather there may be some other updates, possibly from the Astrill side, but for now this is working again. Thanks.

It is very normal that 10 or more process are shown under Teams category.

    User's image

However, what is not normal is the memory load. What is shown in your screenshot is about 10 times higher load than under normal circumstances. WebView2 is the MS Edge rendering engine used to show Teams image on the computer screen.

Try first to login with your account to Teams for Web application in a browser and check the behaviour.
