Whenever I try and open an attachment in Outlook, I get a message "You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation.". When I try and open again, it opens, but every now and again, the attachment also gets corrupted so that I can't open or see it at all.
I have Microsoft 365 and use Outlook classic to view my emails. The troubleshooting I have done so far, include:
- Uninstalled Microsoft 365 and reinstallled
- Created a new profile in Outlook and resynced my emails
- Uninstalled Adobe reader and reinstalled as I thought the problem related to pdfs, but noticed after reinstalling that the problem is still there and also happens when I try and open Excel (xlsx) attachments.
Edit afterwards: I figured out that when I turned realtime scanning off in my antivirus program, McAfee, that I could open the attachments without issue. I contacted McAfee that troubleshooted including removing and uninstalling McAfee, but that still didn't fix the issue. I will leave the realtime scanning off now while McAfee escalate the problem to a senior engineer.
