windows was activated now it is not

Hi all.

My PC had windows activated when i purchased it but now it doesnt. How is this possible?

I have had this PC for about year and half. I first noticed activate tag a couple of months ago. I am logged in to microsoft account but still not able to resolve. I have noted that more and more things are acting strangely. For example, album info is missing in media player and some sites will not download required pages. Anyone got any ideas.

To check the current licence open Command prompt and enter slmgr /dlv [press return] post a screenshot in your reply.

Is the PC from a known branded manufacturer, Dell, HP etc.

Did you buy the Windows 11 licence separate from the system or was it provided by the system builder.

Was the licence possible part of the free upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 originally.

Hi. I bought the pc new with windows 11 pro installed from an online pc builder. I am not sure of the brand. I willtry to get pics on here. The reply from slmgr/div gave me a file called 0409 going toconfig setting and then a bootex.log. sorry my tech abilities and age will not allow me to get pics of less than 3mb. The pc has AMD RYZEN3/5 32 GIGRAM 1TB SSD OFFICE WINDOWS 11 PRO E. I PURCHASED IN SEPT 2024 I hope some of this helps.

You missed the space after the command. slmgr /dlv copy and paste it into the command window.

The album info problem in the media player app is widely reported, it is not related to the activation problem, that is caused by a server side problem on Microsoft's side that they need to resolve.

Click your Start Button, type cmd then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run or paste this command and hit Enter (please note, there is a space before the / in this command).

slmgr.vbs /dlv

Please post a screenshot of the resulting dialog

Thank you for that information.

The problem indicated is that is a volume MAK licence, not a normal consumer Windows licence, you will not be able to reactivate that lcience.

You will need to contact the online PC Builder you purchased the PC from to get a correct Windows licence to activate Windows on your PC.
