I am a 365 owner with an annual subscription. I have just tried to add my iPad as a device and the message says it is not possible just now. Is this a temporary state of affairs or permanent?

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how confusing it can be when you try to add your iPad to your Microsoft 365 subscription and receive a message saying it’s not possible right now. That must feel frustrating.

The reason this happens is that Microsoft 365 does not require you to “add” an iPad as a device in the same way you register PCs or Macs. Instead, you simply install the Office apps from the App Store and sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your subscription. This activates your subscription benefits on the iPad automatically.

To resolve this, download apps like Word, Excel, or Outlook from the App Store, open any app, and sign in using your Microsoft 365 account credentials. Once signed in, your subscription features will be available.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Noel

To add your iPad to your Microsoft 365 subscription, you typically need to ensure that your subscription allows for multiple devices. With an annual subscription, you can install Microsoft 365 on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets, and five phones. If you are encountering a message that states it is not possible to add your iPad, this could be due to several reasons, such as a temporary issue with the service or a problem with your subscription status.

To troubleshoot this issue, consider the following steps:

    1. Check your subscription status: Make sure your subscription is active and that you have not reached the limit of devices.
    2. Verify service health: Check the Microsoft 365 service health status to see if there are any ongoing issues that might be affecting device activation.
    3. Sign in with the correct account: Ensure that you are signed in with the account associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription on your iPad.

If the issue persists, it may be temporary, but you can also reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
