When opening any word document on my laptop the following message is displayed:

"Microsoft Word. We're sorry but word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a result.

Would you like to repair now?"

Please run an Office Repair. The Online Repair option is more thorough.

If Microsoft Word is displaying an error message when you try to open any document, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that you have the latest updates for both Windows and Microsoft Office installed. Sometimes, issues can be resolved by simply updating the software.
    2. Start Word in Safe Mode: You can start Word in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. To do this, hold down the Ctrl key while starting Word. If it opens without errors, the problem might be caused by add-ins or custom settings.
    3. Disable Add-ins: If Word opens in Safe Mode, try disabling any add-ins that might be causing conflicts. Go to File > Options > Add-ins, and disable any that are enabled.
    4. Repair Office: Since the repair option did not work for you, consider performing a full repair of the Office installation. You can do this through the Control Panel by selecting Programs and Features, finding Microsoft Office, and choosing the repair option.
    5. Check for Corrupted Documents: Sometimes, the issue may be with a specific document. Try opening other Word documents to see if the problem persists. If only one document is problematic, it may be corrupted.
    6. Clear Disk Space: Ensure that your hard drive has enough space. If your disk is full, it may prevent Word from functioning properly. Use the Disk Cleanup tool to free up space if necessary.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider reinstalling Microsoft Office as a last resort.
