How to fix an error when downloading an SQL Server

Do you come to the screen where you get three choices of which the rightmost is Download Media. Chose that option and then click the ISO and run Setup.exe. Maybe we get some more useful information that way. By the way, do you happen to be running on a machine with an ARM processor?

Thanks for the response! I've Download the Media as you said. But the problem is when I run the Setup.exe it will suddenly exits. I tried to download some alternatives something like "Dbeaver" it also doesn't work it seems some files are missing, to tell you the truth I know nothing about this type of things I thought simple deletion and installing again would fix everything, I also rely on AI with this kind of stuff kinda embarrassing and stupid at the same time. Also my processor is 64x based.

That's not exactly normal. Seems like something is wonky with your machine - but what, no, I don't know.

In C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Setup Bootstrap\Log you find one folder per installation attempt. The log files there may tell us something. The one of most interest is called details.txt (or something similar).

There is no reason to feel embarrassing and stupid for not being able to figure this out. This is a challenging situation since the diagnostics is so poor.

Again, Thanks for the response! I did what you said however in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\ SSEI\Logfiles. I can't seem to find the Setup Bootstrap

If Setup.exe exits immediately, it may never create the full log folder.

That means no Details.txt, no Summary.txt, and no SystemConfigurationCheck_Report.htm.

2. Setup Bootstrap Folder Was Never Initialized

The folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Setup Bootstrap\Log\<timestamp> is only created after setup passes initial checks.

If your registry or system files are corrupted, setup might fail before this folder is created.

3. Installer Was Blocked by Antivirus or Permissions

Real-time protection or lack of admin rights can prevent setup from writing logs.

• Try running Setup.exe as Administrator with antivirus temporarily disabled.
