Dear sir/madam,

Please see How to fix auto capital letters at beginning of sentence etc.

We are experiencing the same issue in Outlook OWA. After enabling the 'Auto Capitalization' option in Microsoft Editor, the problem still persists.

Is this feature not supported in Outlook OWA? We have noticed that it works correctly in Word OWA, for example.

We are using the Dutch language

Kind regards, Karim

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand that even after enabling the Auto Capitalization option in Microsoft Editor, Outlook OWA still does not capitalize the first letter of sentences as expected.

It can be frustrating when a feature works correctly in Word for the web but does not function in Outlook OWA, especially when you rely on consistent text‑editing behavior across Microsoft 365 apps.

According to Microsoft Q&A discussions, auto‑capitalization in Outlook OWA currently does not function the same way as in Word OWA, even when the Microsoft Editor setting is enabled. This suggests that the feature is either not fully supported or not yet implemented in Outlook OWA. The fact that it works properly in Word for the web confirms that the limitation is specific to Outlook OWA rather than to the Editor or language settings. At this time, Microsoft has not provided a workaround beyond manually entering capitalization, and users are encouraged to submit feedback so the Outlook team can prioritize this feature for future updates.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Noel

To address the issue of auto capitalization at the beginning of sentences in Outlook OWA, it appears that the feature may not be fully supported or functioning as expected in that environment. While you mentioned that enabling the 'Auto Capitalization' option in Microsoft Editor did not resolve the issue, it is important to note that the settings and features can vary between different Microsoft applications, such as Outlook OWA and Word OWA.

If the auto capitalization feature works correctly in Word OWA but not in Outlook OWA, it may indicate a limitation or a bug specific to Outlook OWA. Unfortunately, there may not be a straightforward fix if the feature is not supported in the web version of Outlook. You might consider providing feedback to Microsoft regarding this issue to help improve the functionality in future updates.

In the meantime, manually correcting the capitalization may be necessary until a resolution is provided by Microsoft.
