Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
I have just picked up Version 5.2602.1 and that fixes the issue. Thank you to everyone for your contributions. I hope it now works for you all.

My IPad (iPadOS 26.2) updated Outlook to Version 5.2602.0 this morning, Since then, I can open Outlook, but nothing works at all. It seems to be able to update the mailboxes, but nothing happens when I click on anything. This needs an urgent fix. Are others experiencing the same issue please?
Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
We have the same problem. We need an urgent solution.
exactly - FYI working on Iphone
Yes but in my company we have about 500 ipad devices and none of the devices can use the outlook. When i remove the app install again we can use just one time. When i close app and open again same error occurs.
I have also just sent feedback to MS using my Android Outlook app. If others are able to do that, it might help to get the issue addressed. Thank you
The workaround I found is using the Safari browser instead of the app. The app will still send you notifications.
Thank you Alan Paul. I have many mailboxes, so that is not really practicable for me.
Same issue, all ipads Outlook just crashes, not usable
I went into app settings for Outlook and turned off background app refresh, waited a minute then turned it back on. Outlook is working now.
Thank you Malcolm. I tried that, but it didn't work for me. There was a very temporary return to full functionality, as there has been throughout the day anyway. But after I try to do anything in the app or close and reopen it, the issue returns.
Happening for me too - this is ridiculous. We have so many employees currently unable to do a portion of their job.
Could this issue be linked to MS' new Intune Management policy - search 'Mandatory Intune MAM Security Update (January 2026)'. Seems rather a coincidence that the policy was introduced on 19 January and this issue occurs with the first MS Outlook for iOS after that.
I have 53 iPads managed with Manage Engine MDM. Most people are not able to access Outlook. I removed and reinstalled Outlook on a couple but then they quit working again. The screen is frozen.
Same here today - thought it was just me. Reset IPad but no joy. Same symptoms. Outlook works maybe once then hangs when opening on ipad. How is it possible software organisations can release an update that collapses the whole app?
Anyone have any outage information from Microsoft? I have not yet seen an issue posted in Microsoft Service Health.
This is affecting several of our iPads as well.
Hello This is impacting near to 650 devices where outlook updated to version 5.2602.0 and alternate is only browser option. Is Microsoft working on this issue.
I also opened a ticket through the admin portal. hoping this is fixed soon.
Have you all checked your O365 license? Weird and may just be bad timing, I found Microsoft was not reporting all my license. Reached out to MSP and they got it fixed.
Don’t think it’s the MAM update, I had a user reporting freezing and crashing as of the 15th. Also reports of crashing on OneDrive app.
same issue on ipad. I tried deleting and reinstall but nothing works. Its frozen ....
Why is this placed as an answer?
I think people may be used to the old MS Community where I think there was just one reply box. The comment box is not as easy to see as the answer box. Only the person who posts can recategorise their ‘answer’. Hopefully, they will do that.
Looks like we have an acknowledgement from Microsoft

Thanks Chris. That's encouraging. Toggling Wi-Fi is only a temporary fix until you close and reopen the app. You then have to toggle it again.
Thanks for posting that update… I was tempted to try the delete and reinstall too, but your experience tells me not to do that. Guess I’m stuck using my phone and waiting for Microsoft to fix this.
Can anyone access the following link for EX1220516? When I click it, it says "Something went wrong. You don't have permission to access this post."
Update: EX1220516 is now accessible in the Admin portal.
Ha mi me pasa lo mismo desde ayer dia 21 de enero. Esta congelado.
Use Jarrod B’s solution as temporary workaround
Same problem with Outlook mail. Touch interface not working. All other Microsoft apps seem fine. All other no MS apps working.
Can't access the Incident code in our "Service Health" portal, any idea why not?
Looks like Microsoft just pushed an updated to the App
So far it's working for me
Same problem for me. I can see new content but it literally launches frozen. Completely bricked and unusable at launch… even though the inbox is showing new mail. I did a force close on my iPad. I shutdown and restarted my iPad. I deleted the app and did a reload fresh. Same result. Last update broke the app. Urgently need an update app is completely unusable. This is existing on my iPad only… phone and desktop versions are ok.
Just got update on iPad from Microsoft through MDM push.

My ipad outlook is frozen and crashing. Help!
Hello, McFly? Why not just eliminate the last update to what it was? At least we could use it. I guess you’re outsourcing to foreigners wasn’t such a good idea was it?
If it is a company enrolled device in intune, I have resynced the outlook application and it worked. Basically, i guess a reinstall will work.
I use an IMAP account on a vanity email address on my IPad. Outlook worked perfectly until 4:59 PM PDT today February 27, 2026. Reset the account does not help. Remove and reinstall no help.
I am experiencing the same issue on iPhone running iOS 26.2 and the latest Outlook version 5.2607 since February 27, 2026. Emails are not being sent and remain stuck in the Outbox. A few days later, only one or two emails are sent. Previously, everything was working normally. I have tried various troubleshooting methods, but the issue has not been resolved.
I have just picked up Version 5.2602.1 and that fixes the issue. Thank you to everyone for your contributions. I hope it now works for you all.
Same issue all day, a work around I found - press hold Outlook app icon, tap calendar, once in calendar I press mail button….. a pain, but better than deleting and reinstalling app and network settings…..
Hey Jarrod,
cool - your workaround works on my end as well. Would have never ever thought on this option. So let‘s have MS to fix it ASAP.
Many thanks Jarrod, that's very helpful.
Genial, con esto si que he podido hacer algo. Muchas gracias.
Worked for me as well. TY - I was about ready to uninstall and redo everything. Twenty minutes of my life I would never get back…:-)
I can also confirm this workaround works, and is much better than uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
May have discovered a more permanent solution, and the source of the problem. Need to do more testing, but after getting into the app through the calendar and selecting an email, I noticed a little "new" label on three dots along the bottom. I selected that, got a popup saying email actions had moved, and after clearing that and closing email actions the app no longer freezes when closing and reopening the app like it did.
Like I said, I need to test it on a few more iPads, but that popup may be the root cause.
Edit: Nevermind, it seems I got ahead of myself.
Thanks Jarrod, This worked for me![
I have the same issue - work around _ turn off wifi then oppen app and turn wifi back on and it appears to be fully functional.
Partial fix for one time for some users sadly. Jarrod B workaround answer works every time.
Go in through calendar only works sometimes for me.
This works for me, but can't be a temp fix. our org has thousands of devices.
Update from MS on another Thread https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/answers/questions/5730690/outlook-app-on-ipad-ios-26-2-issues-opening-email
@Roger Toh if you have Cellular cards, try going into airplane mode, the try opening the app, then coming off airplane mode.
