I have a new Lenovo Windows 11 laptop. The camera is crazy fuzzy and does not work. None of the resets are working. Almost looks like a physical defect with the camera. Looks like It's viewing me through a vaseline blob. My face is not distinguishable as a human being.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble you are having with your new laptop's camera. If the above steps did not work, you can still try these.

Run Lenovo Vantage Hardware Scan: Open the Lenovo Vantage app (pre-installed or available in the Microsoft Store), go to Device > Health & Support, and run a Hardware Scan on the camera.

If the scan shows a pass, the hardware is working, and the blurry image is likely caused by a physical blockage or a software filter. A warning means there may be a driver issue, which can usually be fixed by reinstalling the drivers through Vantage. If the scan shows a fail, it confirms a hardware problem, and the camera module will need to be replaced.

Hope that this helps, and if you need further assistance, you can leave a message below or if you have any questions.

Thank you,

If your camera is fuzzy and your face is not recognizable, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Camera Settings: Go to the camera settings page by searching for Settings in Windows, then navigating to Bluetooth & devices > Cameras. Here, you can access the settings for your camera and adjust basic image settings if available.
  2. Clean the Camera Lens: Ensure that the camera lens is clean. Sometimes, smudges or dirt can cause a blurry image.
  3. Update Camera Drivers: Visit the support page for your Lenovo laptop and download the latest webcam drivers. Outdated drivers can lead to performance issues.
  4. Disable and Re-enable the Camera: In the camera settings page, you can disable and then enable the camera again to see if that resolves the issue.
  5. Check for Physical Defects: If the camera still appears fuzzy after trying the above steps, it may be a physical defect. In this case, contacting Lenovo support for further assistance or warranty service may be necessary.

If the problem persists, it could be related to the camera's hardware, especially if it appears to be viewing through a blurred lens.
