Hello -

How can I add an existing outlook.com account to my existing microsoft account? I would like to have the outlook.com email address be my primary email for my existing account and drop the older email address currently assigned as primary for it.

Thanks!

Jason

Hello,

Unfortunately you simply cannot. Existing outlook.com address is already its old Microsoft account, and since Microsoft doesn't allow account merging, so it will not take on existing outlook.com address. Microsoft also doesn't allow recycle of outlook.com alias, so even if you close the account, there's no way to move that outlook.com address to another Microsoft account.

You cannot merge two existing, separate Microsoft accounts. If your "existing Outlook account" was created independently (meaning it has its own password and inbox), Microsoft treats it as a completely distinct entity and won't let you attach it as an alias to another account.
