Hello,

My laptop's Ethernet connection sometimes shows 100 Mbps even though I set it to 1 Gbps. I’ve tried different cables, ports, and updated drivers, but it still happens randomly.

Any idea why this occurs and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Hi.

Is the PC connected directly to the router or through some other device, such as a switch or something else?

Try unplugging and replugging the network cable on both ends and then try again. Also, go to the network adapter's advanced properties and set the Duplex Speed option to Auto-Negotiation. Then disable any power-saving options,Green Ethernet etc.

If you haven't already done so, try replacing the network cable with one of a different brand or higher rating.
