I am unable to force Outlook Classic as my default email

Office 2024 on a laptop with Windows 11.

I am unable to force Outlook Classic as my default email. I have gone into Default Apps and made it the default for everything related to email. I have gone into REGEDIT and changed the preference to UseNewOutlook to 0. When I open Outlook Classic, I get a PRODUCT NOTICE Most of the features of Outlook have been disabled because this product requires and update. When I choose update, I get This version of Outlook isn't included with Microsoft Office Home 2024, which is why I downloaded Outlook Classic from the Microsoft store. I am in an endless loop with this. How can I make Outlook Classic my default mail app?

and I downloaded and installed Outlook Classic. It opens when I select the correct icon. And at the top of the email app Outlook Classic, I get PRODUCT NOTICE Most of the features of Outlook have been disabled because this product requires and update, and the endless loop continues.

Hi! This happens because Office Home 2024 does not include Outlook, so the issue is not really the default-app setting. Microsoft’s Office 2024 FAQ shows that Office Home 2024 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, while Outlook is included with Office Home & Business 2024 or can be installed as a standalone product. That is why Classic Outlook can open but then shows the Product Notice and sends you into the update loop: the app is there, but the current license does not activate it.

So, if you want Classic Outlook as your default mail app, you will need a license that includes it, such as Outlook standalone, Office Home & Business 2024, or a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes desktop Outlook. Otherwise, with Office Home 2024, the supported option is to use new Outlook as the default mail app.
