Hi, I'm John!
To help narrow down the issue:
- How large is the System & reserved storage showing in Settings > System > Storage?
- Did this start happening after a recent Windows update?
The System files size in Windows can grow for several reasons, especially after updates.
A few common causes are:
- Windows Update downloads and backup files
- System restore points
- Temporary update files or cached system files
- Hibernation file or page file changes
First, please check a few things.
- Did Windows install an update recently?
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history and check if something installed recently.
- Check System Restore usage
- Press Start, search for Create a restore point, then open it.
- Select your C: drive > Configure.
- See how much disk space is used for restore points.
- Run Disk Cleanup for system files
- Press Start > Search Disk Cleanup > Select C: drive
- Click Clean up system files
