Unexpected Azure Charges After Free Credit Expired

I created an Azure account to explore and learn Azure services using the free developer credit. After the free credit was exhausted, I unfortunately forgot to stop the running services and resources. Because of this, the services continued running without my knowledge and an unexpected bill was generated.

As soon as I noticed the issue, I immediately cancelled the subscription, started deleting the resources, and submitted a refund request through the Azure portal with the reason "Forgot to cancel subscription."

This usage was purely unintentional while learning Azure services, and I did not intend to use paid services. I kindly request the Microsoft billing team to review my case and assist with the refund request.

Hey there, AKJ Academy

As soon as I noticed the issue, I immediately cancelled the subscription, started deleting the resources, and submitted a refund request through the Azure portal with the reason "Forgot to cancel subscription."

As you have reached out to Azure support already through the portal, you have already done the right thing. The billing team will respond to you and let you know if your refund request is authorised. If you wish to speak to someone from the billing support team about this, please can you create a support request through the portal here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade

Once you have signed in, pleas click onto create a support ticket on the top navigation

This will allow you to to submit a request to the billing team who will respond to you via email. The billing team are good at responding and trying their best to help you with your question.

Hope this helps,
