Embed urls suddenly stopped working

The OneDrive image URL itself is not enough to keep an existing embed working. If the embedded content suddenly stopped and now shows errors like “something went wrong” or “This item won't load right now,” the most common cause is that the original embed code or sharing state is no longer valid.

To restore the embed:

1. Remove the old embed HTML from the website where the image is embedded.
2. Go to onedrive.com and sign in with the account that owns the file.
3. In Files view, locate the image that should be embedded.
   • If the file is no longer shared with the account that originally embedded it, it cannot be embedded again until access is restored.
4. Select the file, choose the </> Embed option.
5. In the pane that opens, select Generate to create fresh embed HTML.
6. Copy this new iframe-based embed code and paste it into the website.

Anyone who visits the page with this new embedded file will be able to view it without signing in, so ensure this is acceptable before re-embedding.

If the embed is being used inside SharePoint pages instead of an external site, also verify:

• The embed code is iframe-based (no <script> tags).
• The URL is HTTPS.
• The SharePoint admin has not restricted embedding external content.
