I have resolved it myself. The AI Assistant answer did not resolve it. It was associated to my OneDrive account. In the end I had to remove and reconnect to my profile completely.

I am having the same issue which started on March 26. Tried the steps recommended by MS so far but no luck.

I tried to sign in again to MS the next day and it worked without my having done any of the steps. It is working well now. I don't know why it shut down and gave me the error code (and shut down all of my MS apps) or why it started working again.

The error message indicates Outlook cannot reach the Microsoft sign-in service, even though the PC has general internet access. This is usually caused by a connectivity issue between the device and Microsoft’s servers or by something on the network (firewall, antivirus, proxy) blocking the connection.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Confirm Windows can reach the internet at the sign-in screen
      • At the Windows sign-in/lock screen, select Network and make sure the PC is actually connected (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet) as described in the Windows sign-in troubleshooting guidance.
      • If using Wi‑Fi and the signal is weak, temporarily connect the PC directly to the router/modem with an Ethernet cable.
    2. Test access to Microsoft sign-in endpoints
      • Open Microsoft Edge (not Internet Explorer).
      • Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com and sign in. You should be redirected to https://www.office.com or the default landing page.
      • Repeat the test in an InPrivate Edge window.
      • If either navigation fails, the issue is caused by the network environment, local firewall, or antivirus software blocking Office/Outlook sign-in traffic.
    3. Check local firewall/antivirus or network restrictions
      • Temporarily disable any third‑party firewall or antivirus and test sign-in again.
      • If on a managed or work network, contact the network administrator to ensure Microsoft 365 sign-in URLs are not blocked.
    4. Verify the issue is not intermittent connectivity
      • In Event Viewer, check Applications and Services Logs → Microsoft → Windows → AAD → Operational around the time of the error for entries mentioning XMLHTTPWebRequest with error codes like 0x?AA7????, 0x?AA8????, 0x?AA3????, 0x102, or 0x80070102.
      • If these appear at the same time as the sign-in attempts, it confirms a connection problem between Office/Outlook and Microsoft’s sign-in service.

If Outlook.com works in a browser but not in the Outlook client, and the tests above show that login.microsoftonline.com is reachable, the problem is likely temporary and may resolve after some time, as seen in similar cases.
