An Apache Spark-based analytics platform optimized for Azure.
Hi Brad Morris,
The behavior you’re seeing is expected. Creating the first Azure Databricks workspace does not automatically assign the Databricks Account Admin role, as this is managed separately at the account level.
In your case, you can resolve this without needing a support path by involving a user in your organization who has the Microsoft Entra ID Global Administrator role. That user can sign in to the Databricks Account Console using their work account at https://accounts.azuredatabricks.net. On first successful sign-in, a Global Administrator is automatically granted Account Admin privileges to bootstrap account access.
Once they have access, they can navigate to the user management section, locate your account, and assign you the Account Admin role.
Please also ensure that they are signing in under the correct Azure tenant associated with your Databricks workspace, as tenant mismatches can lead to redirection to the workspace instead of the account console.
If needed, I can help walk through the exact steps for assigning the role once access is established.
