my emails are no longer opening under my hotmail account. I have to double click them to open them in outlook

When you click a message, does it open in a separate tab or pop out into a new window?

This usually happens when the reading pane is turned off in your mailbox layout. Turn it back on so emails open in place. Go to Settings, then Mail, then Layout. Under Reading pane, select Right or Bottom. Save the change and refresh the page. After this, a single click opens emails in the same screen instead of a new Outlook window. If the issue started today, also check if you were switched to the new Outlook web experience, since layout settings reset during updates.
