I had the batteries replaced and the blue light on but realised I had to hold the little round button next to the light for 7 seconds ( I had played with this earlier did not work ) For some reason the holding the button down for 7 secs whilst the arc was bent and on the bluetooth detected it finally and asked me to connect! Yes!

    Hello Veronica Ostro,

Thanks for the update - I'm glad you got it working. The key difference is that a quick press on the button just powers the mouse on, but it doesn't make it visible to other devices. Holding it down for about 5–7 seconds puts it into pairing mode, which is when the light starts blinking and your PC can actually discover it in "Add a device."

Thank you for coming back to share what worked — this is a really common point of confusion with the Arc Mouse, so your update will definitely help others who run into the same thing.

Follow these steps to get the Arc/Surface Arc mouse to show up so it can be added:

    1. Make sure the mouse is actually in pairing mode, not just powered on:
      • Snap the mouse into the curved position to turn it on.
      • On the bottom of the mouse, press and hold the pairing / Power/Connect button for about 5–7 seconds until the light starts blinking (discoverable mode). A steady light alone only indicates power, not pairing.
    2. Try pairing again from Windows:
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth, then wait for Surface Arc Mouse (or Arc Touch Mouse) to appear and select it.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth, then select the mouse and choose Done.
    3. If it still does not appear, troubleshoot the Bluetooth connection:
      • Confirm Bluetooth is turned on in Settings.
      • Turn airplane mode on, wait 10–15 seconds, then turn it off and try pairing again.
      • Turn off or disconnect other Bluetooth devices that might interfere, then retry pairing.
      • Remove any existing entry for the mouse from Bluetooth & other devices, then put the mouse back into pairing mode and add it again.
      • If possible, test the mouse with another PC. If it appears there, the issue is likely with the original PC’s Bluetooth.
    4. Check mouse power and batteries:
      • For Surface Arc Mouse: open the battery door, replace the 2× AAA batteries, then snap curved and re-enter pairing mode.
      • If the light does not blink when holding the pairing button, the mouse is not in discoverable mode or has no power.
    5. If the mouse still never shows in the “Add a device” list for any PC, the Bluetooth radio in the mouse may be faulty and hardware service or replacement is likely required.
