I have resolved this By trying to change the Pin from the login screen. Although this was not straight forward. However can anyone tell me in the future why the verification window opens and then closes shortly there after And in future how to prevent this?
Cant change hello PIN as the PIN verification screen appears then disapears.
It seems that the pin I have used for some time is not working??
Fortunetely I used the passwordto access the computer. Now Im trying to change the password.
I cant Put in the old password and then a new one because it does not accept the old one.
Ok so I click forgot password.
The first time I did this it sent me a verification imedetely. But then I could not find the window that I was suppose to put Verification into. It had disapeared.
I Went through the process again clicked forgot pin. And now it does not sent me a pin. Maybe there is a pause on this. HOWEVER what is happening in all cases is that the window that you put the verification code in appears for maybe 10 second then disapears. There is not enough time to put the pin into the window. Very frustrating.
What can I do to make the Hello Pin work.
thank ou.

I'm glad you were able to get it sorted through the lock screen reset.
As for why the verification window opens and closes — when you change your PIN through Settings, it launches a Microsoft account verification prompt in-session, and that window can sometimes lose focus or time out before you get a chance to interact with it, especially if there's a background process competing for focus. It's not uncommon and doesn't indicate anything wrong with your account or device.
The lock screen reset works because it uses a separate authentication flow that doesn't rely on that same in-session verification window, which is why it went through without issues.
Thank you for the update, and let me know if you have any other questions.

- Sign in with the password
Since the PIN is not working, continue signing in with the account password. - Reset the PIN from Settings instead of the lock screen
- Open Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options (or use this shortcut: Sign-in options).
- Under PIN (Windows Hello) choose I forgot my PIN.
- Follow the prompts to verify the account and create a new PIN. If the verification window closes too quickly, wait a few minutes and try again, as there may be a temporary delay on sending/accepting codes.
- If the PIN option is stuck or keeps failing
Use the troubleshooting guidance for PIN failures:- If prompted to create a PIN again after already having one, create it again and then check for Windows Updates.
- If errors occur during PIN creation, sign out of Windows, sign back in with the password, and then try the I forgot my PIN flow again from Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → PIN (Windows Hello).
- If still unable to use PIN at all
On devices with Enhanced Sign-in Security, PIN can be reset from the lock screen:- On the lock screen, select Sign-in options, choose PIN, and remove/add the PIN again. This triggers a PIN reset that can restore PIN functionality.
If none of these steps work and the verification window continues to close before a code can be entered, back up data and consider a repair/reset of the PC, as a corrupted PIN/NGC configuration sometimes requires a system reset to fully resolve.
