Microphone does not give input after 2026-04 Security Update (KB5083769)

I am using a desktop PC, and I have an external headset. Before the (KB5083769) Update every thing worked without an issue. Today, when I booted my PC, at first the PC did not recognise the headset, the speakers or the microphone. Instead, the sound was coming from the monitor's speakers. After a restart, I could hear from the headset, but after many restarts the mic still does not work. Windows sees the headset mic but there is no input. I tested my mic on a MacBook and the mic itself works perfectly fine.

My Windows version is 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8246).

I use a jack port for my headset.
My motherboard is: GIGABYTE B850M GAMING X WIFI6E 8200MHz OC DDR5 Socket AM5 M.2 HDMI DP mATX
In Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers, I see the corresponding device, and in its properties, it says "This device is working properly."

In the update history, only update been made are "2026-04 Security Update (KB5083769) (26200.8246)" and "2026-04 .NET Framework Security Update (KB5082417)"

    Hi,

You can access the device manager, take a screenshot of the Sound, video and game controllers tab and post it here.

Check if you have the Realtek console installed, open it > go to the advanced device settings tab and see if you have a single green jack input; change it to headphones instead of headset.

This is so that the headphone input becomes the single jack output; this also needs to be a single jack on the front of your computer case.

    Hello oğuz öymez,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Before we proceed, may I have a photo of the sound device list to check for you?

    • Type "Control Panel" in the search bar and press Enter.
    • Go to Hardware and Sound > Sound.
    • Switch the "Recording" tab.
    • Right click on the list and select "Show disabled device" and "Show hidden devices"

    I'm waiting for your reply.
