Linking Minecraft User to a Microsoft Account: Error-Drowned

I turned on PS4 and started Minecraft. Usually it logs straight into my Microsoft Account.

Today it did not, I do not know why. I tried to log on via QR code, but entered the wrong email address. I had to unlink that one to connect with the right one. But it now refuses to connect. What can I do, as I don't want to lose that account.

Thank you if you can assist.

And why is there no Parent or Child relevant for this?

There was a suggestion posted that I can no longer find.

The solution was to reset the password on the linked microsoft account. This seems to have forced some sort of refresh and the account now connects successfully.

There is no support for Minecraft in this forum.

The issue is with Microsoft account sign-in and linking, not with parent/child controls. The PS4 profile, the Microsoft account, and the Minecraft license must all line up again after the mistaken sign-in.

    Use these steps in order:

    1. Confirm which Microsoft account actually owns Minecraft
      • On a browser, go to a Microsoft sign-in page and select Forgot your username?.
      • Enter each email address that might be associated with Minecraft (including the one normally used on PS4).
      • Microsoft sends a code to the primary alias for that account. After entering the code, it shows the list of aliases that belong to that Microsoft account and can be used to sign in.
      • From this, identify the Microsoft account that actually owns the Minecraft purchase and is used on PS4.
    2. Check if the email/alias was turned off for sign-in
      • If the wrong email was used and then unlinked, an alias might have been blocked for sign-in.
      • If the error shown is similar to “This username has been turned off for sign-in. Try a different one.”, then:
        1. Use Forgot your username? with that email.
        2. Enter the code sent to the primary alias.
        3. Use one of the aliases listed that is allowed for sign-in.
      • Then sign in to that Microsoft account in a browser to verify it works normally.
    3. Recover the Microsoft account if sign-in still fails
      • If the password is forgotten, follow Reset your password from the Microsoft account help.
      • If the password is known but “stopped working” or the account is “not recognized anymore,” use the Sign-in Helper tool referenced in the Microsoft account help.
      • If the email/username itself is forgotten, use the Look up your Microsoft account guidance.
      • These steps ensure full access to the correct Microsoft account before trying to link it again in Minecraft.
    4. Re-link the correct Microsoft account in Minecraft on PS4
      • After confirming the correct Microsoft account and that it signs in successfully in a browser:
        1. Start Minecraft on PS4.
        2. Choose the option to sign in with a Microsoft account.
        3. Use the QR code or the code entry flow, but this time sign in with the confirmed Microsoft account (the one that owns Minecraft and that you just tested in the browser).
      • If the game says the account is already linked to another PlayStation account, that means a different PSN profile was previously linked; in that case, the same PSN profile must be used, or a different Microsoft account must be chosen.
    5. Why parent/child is not relevant here
      • Parent/child (family) settings matter when:
        • A child account is blocked from accessing third-party apps or games, or
        • Online multiplayer is blocked by family safety settings.
      • The scenario described is about:
        • Using the wrong email during sign-in,
        • Unlinking and re-linking a Microsoft account,
        • And the game refusing to connect afterward.
      • Those are sign-in and account-linking issues, not parental consent or family safety restrictions, so parent/child settings do not apply unless the account is actually a child account that is being blocked from third-party apps or online play.

If the correct Microsoft account can sign in on the web and is the one used in the PS4 linking flow, the Minecraft profile and purchases associated with that account are preserved; they are not lost by unlinking/relinking, only by using a different Microsoft account.
