this historic repeated many times over question was closed but all options do not match the current corporate web outlook i am using.

I an restarting the necessary conversation. i do not want a reading pane like others, and I do not want a single click to open a message nor turn it unread. I have followed all the prior examples for handling messages but none of them are working. can the classic options be included in the web version. essentially for an inbox with many emails reading a preview is distracting, and clicking to think on a title and not open it is necessary. thanks for 'more' ideas. I would have extended the prior same question but it was closed without fixes.

Can close case as the actual new outlook (don't believe the above AI outlook) does have a fix for it in Reading pain view , "pop out reading pane", thank goodness (stops the one click and unread situation).

Just FYI, those options by AI were all wrong, each step was wrong. I am actively sorting this out today. so far I am excited to say that choosing View>Reading pane> Pop out reading pane actually stops the one click opening ! yay.... now I just have to figure out where the read/unread darker colour can be fixed as that has become a bit messed up in all my attempts at fixing.
