Windows 11 Bluetooth headset microphone not detected

My motherboard is Asus Prime B650M-R, which does not have built-in Bluetooth. Because of this, I purchased a TP-Link UB500 (Bluetooth 5.4) to use Bluetooth functionality.

I am running Windows 11 Pro (25H2)

My Bluetooth headset connects successfully and audio (Stereo / A2DP) works perfectly, but the microphone (Hands-Free / AG Audio) does not appear or cannot be selected at all. As a result, I can only use the headset for audio output, not input.

It seems that Windows 11 only detects the headset as a Stereo device and does not create the Hands-Free (HFP) audio profile.

I tested the same hardware in other systems:

  • Windows 10 laptop + UB500 → microphone works perfectly
  • macOS and iPhone → both audio and microphone work without any issues

Because of this, I suspect the issue is related to Windows 11 + TP-Link UB500 + Bluetooth stack / driver compatibility.

I have already tried multiple fixes (re-pairing devices, reinstalling drivers, checking services), but none of them solved the issue.

I FIXED THE PROBLEM HERE IS THE SOLUTION!!

SOLUTION: First remove all saved Bluetooth devices from your PC. Then open device manager, go to "Audio inputs and outputs" dropdown section and remove all Bluetooth devices. then restart your device. These steps finally SOLVED MY PROBLEM.

In my case, it started showing "connected mic, audio" under my Bluetooth audio device name whichever I paired with my PC and in all others (Bluetooth earphones too) too. Mic also started working too as I did a zoom call after this process.

Hope it helps
