We have a dashboard chart that has been showing the autoscale metrics of Observed Capacity (Max) but that stopped displaying any data recently.

Another chart with the following metrics also shows no data now.

Metric Threshold (Avg), plan-app-prod-ausae-01-Autoscale-139

Observed Metric Value (Avg), plan-app-prod-ausae-01-Autoscale-139

Azure Monitor
Azure Monitor

An Azure service that is used to collect, analyze, and act on telemetry data from Azure and on-premises environments.

Hello Peter Oxenham

Below is the RCA of the issue.

Based on Microsoft support findings and case investigation: This is a Microsoft-side Azure Monitor regression caused autoscale diagnostic metrics to temporarily stop emitting data, impacting visibility and alerts, while autoscale functionality itself remained unaffected and was restored automatically.

Microsoft resolved the regression on the Azure Monitor backend, restoring metric emission. No action was required from your side. Metrics started appearing again automatically once the fix was deployed.

Peter Oxenham hi & thx for join me here at Q&A portal,

Peter usually this means the autoscale setting metric stream changed or stopped emitting, not that autoscale itself is broken. those metrics are tied to the autoscale rule resource/name like plan-app-prod-ausae-01-Autoscale-139, so if the autoscale setting was edited, recreated, renamed, moved, or regenerated by IaC, the old dashboard chart can point to a dead metric dimension.

whether autoscale is still enabled and whether scale history still shows decisions. if scale history works, recreate the dashboard tiles from the current autoscale setting instead of the old metric reference.

Is the metric namespace/resource in Metrics Explorer coz autoscale metrics are under the autoscale setting, not always the App Service Plan itself.

if no autoscale metrics appear at all but scale still runs, open Azure Monitor ешслуе with resource ID, autoscale setting name, timestamp when it stopped, and examples of missing metrics.

Old dashboard likely points to stale autoscale metric series, rebuild tile from current autoscale setting

    rgds, Alex
