As can been seen the Language Bar is at the top of the screen, and the "Docked in Toolbar" option is greyed out.

I spend an hour with Microsoft Customer Support, yet was unable to change it. One suggestion was to do a Repair Reinstallation of the OS.

Are there any possible explanations, or other solutions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you want to dock it in the system tray, uncheck the option Use the desktop language bar when it's available. If it doesn't work, check the option Let me use a different input method for each app window then go to Language bar options and set it to Hidden.

The legacy desktop Language bar and the taskbar input language icon are mutually exclusive. When the desktop Language bar is enabled and set to “Floating On Desktop,” the option to dock it in the taskbar can be unavailable, and the taskbar icon is hidden.

To stop using the floating Language bar and use the taskbar icon instead (which effectively “docks” language switching back into the taskbar):

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Time & language > Typing.
  3. Select Advanced keyboard settings.
  4. Under Switching input methods, clear the checkbox Use the desktop language bar when it's available.

This disables the legacy floating Language bar and re-enables the input language icon in the taskbar, which is the supported way to have language selection integrated into the taskbar in current Windows versions.

If the legacy Language bar is preferred instead of the taskbar icon, leave Use the desktop language bar when it's available checked and configure it via Language bar options, but in that mode the taskbar icon will not show.
