Ucrtbase.dll is crashing Minecraft.

i7 13700k 32gb ram 3070 ti

Everything upto date I quadruple checked EVERYTHING!

Minecraft crashes every time I load in a world. I'm not running any mods. I played this game last year with HEAVY RTX mods. The Event Viewer says the issue is the dll file. I've tried:

The "sfc /scannow" and "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth"

No Bueno

Installing updated c++ redistributables

Almost every year.

No Bueno

I've cleared "%appdata%" 20 times.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled plenty of times.

I recommend updating the BIOS and the GPU drivers, along with the chipset.

Remember that updating the BIOS is recommended, but it carries risks. If you interrupt the process, your laptop may not boot. Therefore, if you are not experienced with hardware and software, I recommend skipping this step, although it is highly recommended.

To update the BIOS, you first need to disable BitLocker. To do this, open the command prompt (as administrator) and run the command: manage-bde -off C:, wait for the decryption process, and restart your computer.

After updating the BIOS, I recommend using DDU.

Note: DDU is a third-party application for completely uninstalling and reinstalling the GPU driver.

After downloading, extract DDU to a folder.
Run the driver screen uninstaller.exe application, select the Model tab and enter GPU. After uninstalling the GPU driver, uninstall it for All GPUs.
Click the first option, Clean and Restart, and wait for the process to complete.

Does the problem only occur in Minecraft or any game?

Search for msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here so we can see the correct laptop model or desktop configuration.

When you bought your Intel 13th generation processor, was it between 2023 and 2024?

I purchased this computer 4 years ago. I updated my bios earlier today. EVERYTHING is up to date. Even did ddu on my graphics card to no avail.

Does this problem occur in the Java version?

If possible, try testing with an older version of the Minecraft launcher without mods.

To see if the crash occurs, I found 2 other users with a similar problem to yours.

I'm not sure about java, i play bedrock because its crossplay. I also don't use Minecraft launcher, i launch straight from the Minecraft for windows application. I'm not running any mods. I get the same error in Event viewer no matter what i change.

Go to the Microsoft Store > Downloads > Get Updates > after starting the Minecraft launcher, use the preview version and see if the problem still occurs.

Hi,

Press Windows + R and enter this command:

%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\

Move the localstage folder to your desktop.

You have to move it, not copy it.

Go to Start Menu > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Minecraft for Windows > Reset.

After that, open Minecraft for Windows and log in with your account. See if the problem persists.

Try testing with Minecraft Java.

Tried all that and it still doesn't work. Java works without crashing. I even reset my PC and it still does the same thing.

Yes I'm still having the problem. Nothing helps. Just gonna say forget it and cancel the gamepass. Only got it for Minecraft in the first place. It's literally the ONLY game I have that crashes. I no longer have the patience to continue to deal with, what seems to be an "easy fix".

I understand, I'm sorry about the situation. Even with the solution I provided for Intel 13th and 14th generation, the problem persists?

If possible, could you record a video of yourself opening Minecraft Bedrock and seeing it crashing? That would help understand the problem.

Another option is to test with another user, but it only happens with Minecraft > and are you sure you don't have any mods installed?

I updated my BIOS with a flash drive and it seems to have fixed the issue. I tried to update my BIOS with the MSI program and apparently it didn't update it. Thank you so much for all of your help.

Based on similar crash patterns and DLL/runtime issues in games, the most effective next steps are to focus on the C/C++ runtime environment and GPU drivers, even if they appear “up to date.”

Try the following in order:

Fully standardize and repair Visual C++ Redistributables
- Uninstall all existing “Microsoft Visual C++ 20xx Redistributable” entries from Apps & Features (both x64 and x86) where possible.
- Download and install only the latest supported Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 redistributables (x64 and x86) and ensure no older versions are reintroduced by other installers.
- This avoids conflicts where older redistributables overwrite newer DLLs such as ucrtbase.dll or vcruntime140.dll and cause app crashes.
Check for apps that reinstall old C++ runtimes
- Some CAD, Adobe, or rendering tools bundle outdated C++ redistributables that can drop older DLLs back onto the system after Windows Updates.
