Shared calendars disappearing and new groups of unknown names appearing in Outlook

My partner and I share an outlook calendar. This morning, we opened our calendars to find that each other's calendar disappeared. In addition, in both our calendars, under groups, lists of unknown names appeared in alphabetical order by first name, but they are different names in each calendar. We followed all the instructions to delete and reinvite each other, checked permissions, opened calendars on the web and followed the same steps there. Any other ideas appreciated.

Hi Donna M,

I understand that both the shared calendar access disappeared and unfamiliar calendar groups appeared at the same time. Since this is a user-to-user forum, contributors here cannot access your Outlook mailbox, calendar service data, or account-side settings, so the best next step is to have Microsoft Support review this from the account side.

Since you have already removed and re-shared the calendar, checked permissions, and confirmed the same behavior in Outlook on the web, this does not appear to be limited to the new Outlook app on Windows. Please avoid deleting the unknown groups until Support reviews the case, in case they need to check how those calendar groups were created or synced.

You can contact Microsoft Support via live chat through this path:

  1. Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support
  2. In the search bar provided on the page, type "Outlook issue" and press Enter.
  3. Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.
  4. Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.
  5. When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".
  6. For the category, choose "Outlook".
  7. Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".
  8. Confirm your personal email when prompted - this is the email Microsoft will use to communicate with you during and after the support session.
  9. Explain your situation clearly: Be concise but provide all the relevant details.

You can also try the in-product Outlook.com support path: open Outlook on the web, select Help, describe the issue, then scroll to Still need help? and select Yes if the self-help results do not resolve it. Microsoft’s Outlook.com support article lists this as the support path for signed-in Outlook.com users. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/how-to-get-support-for-outlook-com.

I hope Support can check the calendar data from the service side and help restore the expected shared calendar view.
