Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.
Yes, you can install Microsoft 365 on your new MacBook Air, as long as your subscription is active on the Microsoft account you used to buy it.
Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services sign in with the Microsoft account that has the subscription, then choose Install. This should download the Microsoft 365 apps for Mac, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
About the documents opening in Pages, that is usually just a file association issue. After Word is installed, you can right-click a document, choose Open With > Microsoft Word, and set Word as the default app for Word documents.
If the files were converted into Pages format, you may need to open them in Pages and export them back as Word documents using File > Export To > Word.
Do you still have access to the Microsoft account that has the Microsoft 365 subscription? Were your original files Word documents, or were they converted to Pages during the migration? And what macOS version is your new MacBook Air running?
