I have a 2017 Imac i5 and i received an email stating that any system with Mac OS 12 and above can run the new Office. The day has come yesterday and i can now not use anything Outlook, Word, Excel etc. Microsoft is now saying that i need to be on the latest OS to support Office. So if i cant update my computer, i cant use office anymore? in turn i have to buy a new computer?

I dont want to use office online also. i need outlook on the desktop. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

Hello

What's your current MacOS version? I looked it up, and your 2017 iMac i5 should allow you to upgrade your OS version to 13, which will help. It will then not be affected by July 13th change.

However, Microsoft 365 can run on macOS Ventura 13 only by using an older Office version. Microsoft ended support for Ventura with Office version 16.101, released in September 2025. Newer Microsoft 365 installations and updates require macOS Sonoma 14 or later.

Uninstall your current Ms365, then downgrade to version 16.101 by using this installer. https://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/C1297A47-86C4-4C1F-97FA-950631F94777/MacAutoupdate/Microsoft_365_and_Office_16.101.25091314_Installer.pkg
