First, check if McAfee is actually installed

Windows: Settings → Apps → search "McAfee"

If real McAfee is installed and just too naggy

Open the McAfee app itself

Go to Settings (gear icon) → General Settings or Notifications

Turn off "Show notifications" / "Promotional offers" / "Product tips"

If you don't use McAfee anymore:

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Control Panel > Programs and Features).

Uninstall McAfee if you no longer want it.

Run a malware scan

Even if the pop-ups are fake, it's a good idea to scan your computer:

Run Windows Security (Microsoft Defender) → Full Scan. Alternatively, Malware Bytes.

If the pop-ups appear in your web browser

Google Chrome

Open Chrome.

Click ⋮ (three dots) → Settings.

Go to Privacy and security → Site settings.

Click Notifications.

Under Allowed to send notifications, look for suspicious websites or ones you don't recognize.

Click ⋮ next to them and choose Remove or Block.

Microsoft Edge

Open Edge.

Click ⋯ → Settings.

Go to Cookies and site permissions → Notifications.

Remove or block any suspicious websites.
