The quick repair option on that popup error dialog rarely resolves the problem with the Office apps, the best option is to perform a full repair of your Office installation.

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Apps - Installed Apps, then scroll down to find Microsoft 365 (Office).

Select that and choose Modify - Online Repair

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation.

The restoration of my 365 Office was accessed and accomplished just as the advice idicated. Microsoft then decided that the restored Office software needed to be paid for and charged me an annual fee to what I have already purchased on account in 2020. . I am retired an currently living out of country and Microsoft wishes to make my life harder on an annual basis now. That ought to tell you something about the mind of the Tech People.

Microsoft 365 is a subscription product. It is charged either monthly or annually.

If your previous version of Office was not subscription based, open Word, go to File - Account, click the 'Switch Licence' button, in there, you should be able to switch back to your original version of Office.

I really didn't have any idea what i was running but I know when I buy a new laptop I have the store activate MS software. I am a little to old to ve on top of system's and stuff now , I'm sure I am the one that corrupted the word document that started all this. I just think Microsoft should just leave their seniors with less to fuss with. But really thanks for your assist.
