If you haven't already, please see "Update a Microsoft account payment method" https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/update-a-microsoft-account-payment-method
Was the subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, or through Apple, Google Play, or another company? If it was purchased through a third party, the payment method must be changed through that provider.
Also, do you see the Change how you pay option, or is it missing?
