When will Azure Premium SSD v2 allow ASR?

Having read the features of the Premium V2 disks and compared pricing with our existing Premium disks, the v2 looks like something we really want to make use of.

not being restricted by disk increments in a huge one for us as paying double to increase disk when you don't require anywhere near double the disk is very frustrating.

However we use ASR for most of our production server and at present this is only in preview by request.

Is there any set date on when this may be going fully live?

This is kindly informing you that, unfortunately no specific date has been announced as to when ASR support for the Premium SSD v2 will be generally available. Microsoft usually moves products from preview to general availability based on user feedback and the stability of the feature during the preview phase.
Azure Premium SSD v2 offers really important benefits, especially with its flexibility in disk size growth and performance tuning. As for Azure Site Recovery (ASR) support, it is currently in preview by request.

Thanks for the note.

It seems pretty counter productive that Microsoft would release a new product so imperative as a disk and suggest that people switch to using it when there were such limitations as not being able to back it up or not being able to use Azure Site Recovery.

It's good that it's in preview but I would not be able to move our production environments to these disks when ASR is only in preview.

Hi SteveZVC,
Azure Disk Pools provide consistent block storage for applications and workloads supported by Azure Disks. You can use disk as persistent storage for Azure VMware Solution for optimal cost and performance.
As you mentioned, Azure Site Recovery does not yet support Azure Disk Pools. Also, it’s worth noting that Microsoft has officially stopped previewing Azure Disk Pools, and they won’t be generally available. Other customers cannot overwrite the Microsoft.StoragePool resource offer in their subscription and upload additional disk pools. Existing applications registered with Microsoft.StoragePool can continue to use and manage disk pools in the meantime.

I didn't mention Azure Disk pools at all and it's not something i've ever looked into!

It's Premium v2 disks that i'm discussing.

This is kindly informing you As of now, there hasn’t been an official announcement regarding when Azure Premium SSD v2 will support Azure Site Recovery (ASR). The latest updates primarily focus on the general availability and performance features of Premium SSD v2
Premium SSD v2 disks indeed offer more flexibility with their smaller increment sizes, which can be a game-changer for cost management and efficiency.

While the support for Azure Site Recovery (ASR) isn’t available yet, it’s great to hear that the other features of Premium SSD v2 are aligning well with your needs. Hopefully, Microsoft will announce ASR support soon, making it even more beneficial for your use case.
