Unexpected payment

I’m reaching out for help with unexpected charges on my free Azure subscription. Here’s a breakdown of the situation:

Background: I recently created a free Azure account to explore and learn, using it only briefly for a database service. I didnt cancel my subscription afterward, and now I've noticed that my account has been charged, despite it being a free subscription. I would like to request a refund if possible.

Current Issue: I’ve already deleted all visible resources from my subscription, but I’m still unable to cancel it. Additionally, it seems that charges are continuing to accumulate despite having no active resources, as far as I can tell.

Questions:

Has anyone faced a similar issue with lingering charges after deleting all resources?

What are the best steps to take to ensure my subscription is completely canceled and avoid further charges?

Does Azure offer refunds in situations like this?

Thank you very much for any guidance or suggestions you can provide. I’m also open to any advice on how to contact Azure Support directly for billing issues if there’s a recommended way.

Thank you!

Hi,

Please create a new billing support request using my instructions below. There is no charge for billing support.

Use this link to start the process:

https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_CostManagement/Menu/~/support/openedBy/AzurePortal

Fill out Summary, Problem type, Problem subtype, click Next. There will be a delay, then some recommended solutions will be shown. Do not click on any of the recommended options shown.

In the upper left corner, click Return to support request

Click Next to move to Additional details tab, fill out required information, email/phone, etc., click Next, review details and submit case. After submitting you should receive an automated email with a few minutes and a support engineer should contact you within 1 business day.

Has anyone faced a similar issue with lingering charges after deleting all resources?

A:  There is a delay between when a charge is incurred and when it shows up in billing. Typically additional charges will stop accruing within 24 hours of deleting all resources, however, it depends on the specific products/services you used/subscribed to. This is something you should discuss when you contact billing support.

Does Azure offer refunds in situations like this?

A:  Whether or not they refund charges depends on your unique situation. Please open billing support case using the instructions above and discuss it with support engineer.

What are the best steps to take to ensure my subscription is completely canceled and avoid further charges?

Cancel and delete your Azure subscription
