Cost for Recovery Service vault

Hi Team,

We are currently backing up our VMs to Azure Recovery Services Vault. However, in the Cost Analysis, we observe that the charges under the Recovery Services Vault are grouped under "Azure VM Protected Instances" without a breakdown per VM.

Could you please confirm if it's possible to view or retrieve the cost of each individual instance protected under the Recovery Services Vault?

Hi @Ranjith Velamala ,

The overall cost you're seeing for the Recovery Services Vault (RSV) is correct. However, Azure does not provide cost details for each individual server directly. If you need to view the cost breakdown per resource. Please refer to the article below for the detailed breakdown.

As per Microsoft Pricing cost of backup relies on RSV which has two major components:
1)Protected instances cost

Currently, the Azure portal does not provide a detailed breakdown of costs per individual VM protected under the Recovery Services Vault. The charges are grouped under "Azure VM Protected Instances

The Recovery Services vault stores backup data and manages backup policies. Charges for backup items are calculated based on the total GB of data backed up, in alignment with the configured retention policy (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.).

Instant snapshot costs enabled in the backup policy, are visible at the virtual machine level within Cost Management. ->Cost Analysis->All Views->Select your VM->Snapshot
