How to set up a Data Lakehouse in MS Fabric from Ireland?

I'm doing the "Microsoft Azure Fundamentals" Microsoft certification from Ireland (region may be relevant in case of region restrictions to MS Fabric), and am following the "Explore data analytics in Azure" learning path, on the "Explore fundamentals of large-scale analytics" module, at the "Exercise: Explore data analytics in Microsoft Fabric" unit (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/examine-components-of-modern-data-warehouse/5-exercise-data-analytics-fabric).

While attempting to create a data lakehouse, although I'm following the instructions in the course (and done plenty of research online through youtube tutorials & questions from people facing a similar issue), there is just no option to create a data lakehouse in my MS Fabric workspace, and so I can't complete the exercise.

I've checked that my workspace has a trial license, and at this point I'm not sure what could be going wrong other than a region restriction like some other (non-Ireland-based) users online have complained about.

This question is related to the following Learning Module

Hi Kilmartin, Luke,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

If you're not seeing the Lakehouse option in Microsoft Fabric, even though you have an active trial license, it may be due to region-based limitations.

Some regions may not yet support all Microsoft Fabric features. To check, go to My workspace, click New, and see if Lakehouse appears as an option. If it's missing, try creating a new workspace and select a different region that is fully supported for Fabric features.

This often resolves the issue. We've tested this setup on our end and the Lakehouse option is available—please refer to the screenshot provided for reference.User's image
