Microsoft Edge Updated and My Default Browser on Edge May Have Changed

Hello,

Microsoft Edge updated and I think my default browser ON Edge changed from Google, which I prefer, to Edge itself; however, I'm a bit confused. I do want Google to be my preferred browser for searching while I'm on Edge, but I want Edge to be the default browser out of the three browsers on my laptop: Firefox, Google Chrome, and Edge, and by that I mean I want my PDFs, etc., to open on Edge. At least that's my understanding of what I want!

Below is a picture of what my home page looks like on Edge. Does this mean that Google is no longer my default while on Edge. I can't tell. In any event, I would like to put Google as the primary search engine while I'm on Edge. How do I do that, please?

If I understood you correctly, you want Microsoft Edge to be your default browser to open web pages, but you want to use Google to search in Microsoft Edge.

Open " edge://settings/search " by copy/pasting this address in Edge's search bar. You'll be in Edge's “Address bar and search” settings. Make sure Google is your default search engine.

Once you've selected Google, there's a setting called “Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar”. Select “Address bar”. (take a look at the attached screenshot)

When you'll open a new tab, the search bar inside the “New tab” page will always use Google.
