I have unfortunately been hacked and they have changed the email address. I managed to get and change the password but couldn't change back the email address because I had to wait 30 days. Now the password has been changed again and I can't get into the account. I've tried to recover it but haven't heard back from Microsoft. Someone pls help.

Cameron,

I totally understand your frustration.

Unfortunately, it might be very difficult or even impossible to recover a hacked account if the main email address (Username) have been changed. Hackers might change most of the information linked to the account, so the recovery form is the only option to recover your account. But the chances are less.

Account Recovery Form: https://account.live.com/acsr

Detailed steps on how to use the Account Recovery Form can be found here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/b19c02d1-a...

It's important to note that Microsoft Support will not be able to grant you access to your account, you will be sent back to the Account Recovery pages that have been linked above.

While it might not be the outcome you are looking for, if you’re unsuccessful in recovering your account, then you will need to create a new Microsoft account. You can do that by clicking this link: https://signup.live.com/

To avoid this instance from happening in future again, you could go through the guidelines below on how to help keep your Microsoft account safe and secure -

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards,

Gunasekar N

    Hello Cameron,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this problem. I understand how important recovering your account is to you.

It seems that your account has been hacked and somehow you were able to get the account back. However, you are having trouble changing the password due to the security verification being replaced with the hacker's e-mail address.

If you have replaced the security verification methods, you will have to wait 30 days. According to the article below "When all the security info is removed from your Microsoft account and replaced with something new, the account is put into a restricted state for 30 days."

    https://support.microsoft.com/help/cbd0f64f-02d...

After 30 days, your new security information will be replaced and you can change your password by verifying your Identity.

When it comes to password resets, Microsoft has a fantastic support article that provides all the steps. You can find it here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/help/475c9b5c-8c2...

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
