I have tried so many different "troubleshooting" steps and nothing works. I've tried two different headsets, from two different manufacturers, neither one's mic is picked up. One is Turtle Beach, one is SteelSeries.
Before the "normal" questions start coming in, here's the answers to likely responses:
- Yes, these headsets work on other computers, laptops, and gaming systems. Only the Windows computer has issues with them.
- Yes, I've gone through the privacy settings.
- Yes, I've gone through setting them as default output/input.
- Yes I've tried updating/reinstalling drivers/software.
- Yes, I've gone through the actual troubleshoot option in windows to which is says it cannot find a problem.
- Yes, I've ensured the volume for the equipment is not 0.
- Yes, I've tried changing the port they are connected to.
- Yes, I have read through countless articles on trying to solve this.
The SteelSeries headset has software that shows when I look in sound settings. For output I have the headset, for input I have the microphone. I saw one thread where it says to choose "headset with microphone" because it will treat the headset as output speakers, however, this is not an option for me. I've looked all through settings, realtek audio settings, and nowhere is this option available. Although it sounds like it would fix it.
I'm at a loss at this point. I can get nothing but normal audio from my headset, no mics are detected even though sound settings says there's an input device. Any help would be appreciated.
