Internal microphone Realtek(R)Audio does not detect any sound when used in non windows or microsoft-based apps.

My laptop's internal microphone doesn't pickup any sound when I use it with apps other than sound recorder and settings, this problem occured after I reinstall (clean install) my Windows11. It is not a hardware issue since i can record with it using the sound recorder app and I've tested listening to my mic in control panel>sound>recording tab. I've tried reinstalling the driver through device manager, and no issue with the permissions every app i want is allowed access to my mic. Please help, I've been struggling with this for weeks.

When the audio input is recognized on Windows Sound Recorder, it should also work on other third-party applications that access the microphone, unless the permissions are turned off for the specific app. In this case, the situation seems to be quite rare and different, where the input is recognized by Windows but not by other applications.

This may be caused if the microphone input is being used by some other applications or if there are configuration issues with the microphone apps installed on your computer, such as Realtek Audio Control, Bang & Olufsen, etc., which control the audio input and output through their software.

• Try disabling the Audio enhancements of the microphone drivers:

  1. Type mmsys.cpl in the search bar on the taskbar and click enter.
  2. Double-click the Default Microphone driver in the recordings tab and go to the enhancement tab (or) Advanced.
  3. UNCHECK the 'Enable audio enhancement' option.

You can also try changing the sample rate and bit depth of your Microphone in the advanced settings tab to see if it is being detected on other applications.

• Download and install the latest Audio drivers from your PC manufacturer's website:

  1. Go to your laptop Manufacturer's website.
  2. Enter your computer model no. and go to the drivers & Downloads section.
  3. Download the latest audio drivers for your PC and install them.
  4. Restart your computer and check the audio input on other applications.

    So the problem was the driver version from my manufacturer, apparently I have to use the Windows 10 version for the driver since this laptop is half a decade old now it was originally meant for Win10 but since I'm using Windows 11 now it never crossed my mind to try this because I assume it wouldn't work since its for a different version of the OS.

    The solution turned out to be a lot simpler than i thought, kinda feel stupid now....
