If that software will not run in Compatibility Mode, then it is too old to work on Windows 11, because Windows 11 is not as compatible with older software as other versions of Windows was.
Older program will not work on win 11
I have a Gamefinder app that plays a continuous loop of a trail camera, but it is not recognized since I upgraded to win 11.

2024-10-18T00:36:27+00:00 If the program is not supported on Windows 11, no one can guarantee that it will work properly, or at all, on Windows 11.
Windows does have a compatibility mode which helps older applications run by simulating an earlier version of Windows. Sometimes that works fine, and other times it doesn't.
The unfortunate point that I'm trying to make: Once a developer stops supporting their application, it's only a matter of time before the existing (unchanged) code cannot handle the new technology in Windows.

2024-10-17T22:41:59+00:00 Hi Dave,
I downloaded the program from a CD. I have tried the troubleshooter, the compatibility feature, and other things.
When I put in the SD card from this camera, it should be recognized by the program, but it keeps asking me what to use to open it?
Thanks again for your time and help.

2024-10-17T06:57:12+00:00 Hi, D Poole1
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
We understand that you are experiencing issues with older programs not running on Windows 11. This may be caused by the developer of the program not optimizing the software for the version of the Windows 11 operating system, and we suggest you try the following options:1.Run Compatibility Troubleshooter:-Right-click on the executable or shortcut of the Gamefinder app.-Select “Properties” from the context menu.-Go to the “Compatibility” tab.-Click on “Run compatibility troubleshooter” and follow the prompts.2.Set Compatibility Mode:-In the “Properties” window of the app, under the “Compatibility” tab, you can manually set the compatibility mode for a previous version of Windows, such as Windows 10 or Windows 7.3.Run as Administrator:-Check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” in the “Compatibility” tab.If you are still unable to run the program after trying these options, it is recommended that you submit your feedback to the developers of the software; also, you can provide feedback on the compatibility of this software to the Microsoft development team via the Feedback Hub, which will periodically review submitted ideas or fixes. Please share the feedback link here after submission as it will allow others on the forum to vote for your submission, including me. More votes will result in more visibility and higher priority from the development team.Thank you for your understanding! You're always welcome to reach out if you need more help.
Best Regards
