My account is currently local in Windows 11.

I want to sign in with my Microsoft Account , but see the message below:

With this e-mail address I am administrator in my organisation, owning the domain, and there is an assigned and a Microsoft 365 Business Standard is assigned to it.

Also in my e-mail account it says this e-mail addres is a Work of School account:

I am global admin in my organisation:

So I cannot understand why Microsoft says this account is not a Microsoft account.

Thanks for your reply Rene.

Yes, you are correct. Microsoft account is not a O365 account. It is used to access many Microsoft devices and services, such as the web-based email service Outlook.com, onedrive etc...

Other hand work or school account is for business use.

I see, I though you can login in Windows with a Work account, but that is not the case. And I read a Microsoft account is a O365 account, and that is wrong.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hello Rene,

I am Ramya. I will help you on this.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Based on the screenshots you provided, it seems you have a work account, while when logging into Office, it recognized your account as a Microsoft account.

Actually, work or school account and Microsoft account are two different accounts.

For more information, you can refer to What is a Microsoft account and a work or school account and how do I get one?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/why-...

In this case, I would like to suggest you to log into Office.com with the corresponding account by using browser, and check if it can be accessed correctly.

Please select work or school account when logging in and check the result.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Ramya

    Hello,

If you go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school and then try to sign in, what happens?

Sometimes, if you don't use the dedicated option to sign-in to a work of school account, Windows will complain by telling you that the account doesn't exist.

Hope to hear back from you.
