Things i've learned so far

  • the port is a standard usb host controller located in Port_#0001.Hub_#0008
  • after uninstalling and reinstalling all drivers still present
  • Sfc scan and restored windows 11 health off of an ISO file
  • after flashing my bios, still present
  • upon further investigation The driver InfSection says BADDEVICE.DEV.NT
  • Instance ID is USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\9&2978a35a&2&1
  • capabilities, Removable, SilentInstall, RawDeviceOK
  • registry key name is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\9&2978a35a&2&1
  • a photo will be attached in regards to contents in key.

Please help me figure out if this is a bug in a new driver/windows update or something. I've unplugged and restarted my pc individually with each usb and fortunately none of them were a problem.

Does the device not register on all devices if so look inside the usb casing of the device and see if any of the pins have been bent/removed or any physical damage.

and do you have another usb device you can plug into the same port to test if it is the port or device at fault.

Hi,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll try to help you. I am merely a fellow user trying to provide insight and information that may be helpful to others. I answer during my free time, so some delays are possible.

The device may be broken, it does not identify itself ("device descriptor request failed"). Please check this device with another PC.

I believe I found the culprit to be my ring light as it works off a remote and its only using the usb port to power it
