No sound via HDMI connection? (display does work)

My new second hand laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 2) with latest windows 11 updated doesn't play audio through TV when connected with HDMI cable. (HDMI works fine with audio via other laptop). When going to sound settings i cannot add a device or change output device in settings. When checking device manager I could not find a display audio or something similar in device manager under sound, video and game controller. I can only find Intel smart sound tech and Realtek(R) Audio. I already tried restarting the laptop and also updating to the latest version. Now I really don't know what to do.

Thanks.

Can you hold down Win+R keys, type in mmsys.cpl and press enter.

In the playback tab, is the TV listed? If so, please make sure it is not disabled and make sure it is set as default device.

Otherwise,

Can you please go to Lenovo's web link: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n34i...

Download and install this display adapter driver, and see if it improves after that.

Hi, thank you for the explanation. The TV was not visible under devices in the playback menu either, and was also not disabled or hidden. I downloaded the driver you linked and after restarting the laptop the tv does show up devices in the sound system settings and the digital display is also visible. The audio now plays through the HDMI to the TV. Thank you so much!!!!!!

Hi, yes it's an HDMI to HDMI connection without converter or adapter.

    Hello,

Is it HDMI to HDMI directly without converter or adapter?

Can you share with me two screenshots please?

    1. Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters, I would like to see what's listed.
    2. Please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, then share a screenshot of the pop up.

    Thanks!
