Touchpad does not work, 'synaptics device not found'

My touchpad does not work at all, so I tried uninstalling the touchpad driver to reinstall it, but the reinstalling does not seem to work. The driver I tried to install gives me the notification 'Synaptics device not found' whenever I try to install it. I have a lenovo ideapad Gaming 3-15ACH6 Laptop - Type 82K2 (), and the official lenovo site does not even seem to have a driver specific to my device? When I go into device manager, it only has a mouse in the list, as if the computer believes it does not even have a touchpad. What do I do?

In that case, you will need to contact Lenovo support on that web page they will be able to provide you with the specific drivers you need to get the touchpad working.

they gave me a link to update my BIOS and now it works again! thank you!

I reinstalled the AMD chipset drivers like you said. I don't think it changed anything and I don't really understand the second half of what you said, I looked up BIOS updates for Lenovo but the official Lenovo site tells me it's not applicable to the model of my device.

You are correct, the support page for your laptop on the Lenovo website, do not provide specific touchpad drivers, and if your touchpad is not a Synaptics device, you cannot install that version of touchpad drivers.

Try re-installing (not update) the AMD chipset drivers they provide for your laptop and if you do not have your drive encrypted with Bitlocker, check for any BIOS update that may be avaialble and not yet installed.
