Hi @Ramesh Srinivasan [VM] if Available,

I'm facing an issue with Windows Security on my Windows 10 Laptop [Version 10.0.19045.3803]. When I open the Windows Security app it appears blank, no options are visible like [Virus & Threat Protection, Account protection, App & browser control, Firewall].

I've tried some options mentioned as below,

* Launched PowerShell with admin rights and ran command: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

---it showed error [screenshot attached].

* In Windows Services "Security Center & Windows Security Health Service" are missings.

* Then tried command "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" and then "SFC/SCANNOW" and after 100% Verification completion I Restarted Laptop but still Windows Security shows blank .

* Tried to do System Restore using past restore dates but all dates are from after installing game or when the Virus got in system, so unable to restore.

* Lastly I tried repair with Windows 10 ISO, downloaded Media Creation Tool with latest Windows 10 ISO

(After following this steps my laptop Restarted may times during the updates, after completion of updates, I opened

Windows Security app and it showed [Virus & Threat Protection, Account protection, App & browser control] **but**

when I restarted the Laptop to see if those options are still there or not, to my surprise

again All options went missing & Windows Security still appears Blank).

I'm all out of options now. Please help me fix this issue.

You need to run the repair now that the malware has been removed.

The malware has all been removed but as mentioned it has deleted the Windows Defender platform files. Running a repair installation where you keep your apps and personal files will fix it.

For the repair -

Go to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

  • Just below Create Windows 10 installation media click on Download tool now
  • Run MediaCreationTool22H2.exe, accept the license terms then select Create installation media.
  • Use the recommended options then for Choose which media to use, select ISO file.
  • Once downloaded, right click the ISO and select mount, then launch setup.exe
  • Click on Change how Setup downloads updates and select the option Not right now.
  • Next:

  • If the option to Keep personal files and apps is greyed out, abort the installation.

You have active malware. It looks like you disabled Windows Defender before running malware from Ocean of Games Malware.

All Windows Defender's service configuration and likely its platform files have been deleted. A repair installation will probably be needed.

    • Save Fixlist.txt to your Downloads folder.
    • Close any apps with unsaved work.
    • Run FRST64.exe and click "Fix".
    • The computer will reboot to complete the procedure.

    Please upload Fixlog.txt

Hi, Shubham! I'm Richard, an Independent Advisor just like you. I'm here and ready to help you today!

Thank you for providing detailed information about your situation. Since you've already tried many troubleshooting steps and are still facing issues with Windows Security not functioning properly, here are some additional, more comprehensive steps to help resolve the problem.

    1. Update Windows

Ensure your system is fully up-to-date, as updates often fix bugs related to security components.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Click Check for updates and install all available updates.

Restart your PC after updates complete.

    1. Check Critical Services

Verify that essential services like Security Center and Windows Defender Antivirus

    Service are running.

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Locate Security Center and Windows Defender services.

Set their Startup type to Automatic.

If they are not running, right-click and select Start.

If these services are missing or cannot be started, it suggests deeper system issues.

    1. Repair System Files

Run system repair commands to fix any corrupted files.

    Open Command Prompt as administrator.

    Run:

    [DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    sfc /scannow}

If DISM reports errors, consider running it with a Windows ISO as source.

    1. Create a New User Profile

Sometimes, profile corruption causes UI problems.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.

Click Add someone else to this PC.

    Create a local account.

Log in with this new account and check if Windows Security works.

    1. Perform an In-Place Upgrade Repair

This repairs Windows without losing your files.

Download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website.

Run it and select Upgrade this PC now.

    Keep Personal files and apps.

Follow prompts to complete the repair.

    1. Scan for Malware

Malware can disable or corrupt security components.

Run a full scan with Windows Defender or a trusted third-party antivirus.

Consider using Microsoft Defender Offline for thorough removal.

    1. Last Resort: Reset or Reinstall Windows

    If nothing else works:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.

Choose Reset this PC and select Keep my files.

If problems persist, back up your data and perform a clean install.

Let me know how it goes or if you need detailed steps for any of these actions!
