Microsoft is aware of reports that a small subset of specific models of Windows devices fail to start after installing the June 2025 Windows security update. Some of the devices mentioned in these reports include models from Fujitsu, GIGABYTE and ThundeRobot. These reports are not necessarily related, as they include different symptoms for each of the manufacturers, including some models reporting problems on Windows 10, while others report problems on Windows 11.

Our investigation concluded that these behaviors are linked to third-party firmware used in specific device models, which created compatibility issues with Windows. A few days after these reports were raised, Microsoft paused the offering of the June update to affected devices until certain changes were made to prevent affecting more PCs.  We have collaborated with the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to investigate and support their efforts for solutions for each of the affected devices.

If you experienced problems starting Windows after installing the June 2025 Windows security update on any of these devices, we recommend contacting your OEM for further support.  This issue can only be addressed with firmware updates provided by your device manufacturer.
