I purchased a new laptop. I signed into my Microsoft account. I downloaded the Minecraft launcher. I pressed play in the launcher. It will only give me access to the demo. Proof of purchase provided

Thank you for letting me know.

Since the Mojang to Microsoft account migration deadline passed on September 19, 2023, any Mojang account that wasn't migrated in time can no longer sign in to Minecraft.net or the Minecraft Launcher.

At this point, the best step would be to contact Minecraft Support directly here: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/request/new

Just a heads-up: it’s unclear if this is still available post-December 2023. Provide as much detail as possible, including your original Mojang account email, username, and purchase details.

I know it’s disappointing, especially when you just want to play again after a long time. If there's anything else I can help clarify, I'm here for you.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Did you download the Minecraft Launcher from the Microsoft Store, or directly from the official Minecraft website?

Also, can you confirm that you're signed into the Microsoft Store app using the same Microsoft account you used to purchase Minecraft?

I suggest uninstalling the Microsoft Store version of the launcher (if that’s what you have), and instead installing it directly from the official website here: https://www.minecraft.net/download

If the issue persists, please provide more details by answering my questions.

    Regards,
